Nayarit is one of the 31 states of Mexico and is bordered by the states of Sinaloa, Durango, Zacatecas, and Jalisco. Nayarit sits on the Pacific Ocean with a large amount of shoreline and includes the islands of Marías and Marietas. The state’s main economy is tourism, agriculture, and fishing. Nayarit is home to the Huichol and Cora indigenous people.
